Misery

A play by William Goldman, based on the novel by Stephen King

Paul Sheldon, a successful romance novelist, is rescued from a car crash by his “number one fan,” Annie Wilkes, and wakes up captive in her secluded home. While Paul is convalescing, Annie reads his latest book and becomes enraged when she discovers the author has killed off her favorite character, Misery Chastain. Annie forces Paul to write a new Misery novel, and he quickly realizes Annie has no intention of letting him go anywhere. The irate Annie has Paul writing as if his life depends on it, and it does.

The Birds

A Thriller by Conor McPherson, from a story by Daphne du Maurier (not the Alfred Hitchcock version)

Directed by Lanier Young In an isolated house, three strangers take shelter from relentless masses of attacking birds. There’s no electricity, little food, and a nearby neighbor may still be alive and watching them. Survival becomes even more doubtful when paranoia takes hold of the makeshift fortress—an internal threat to match that of the birds outside
