The Four Old Broads are back with some wacky new friends in an all-new comedy. Lurleen Dupree is throwing the seventh annual Miss Magnolia Senior Citizen Beauty Pageant. Martha Parcell is certain that it is finally her year to win. But Beatrice, Imogene and Eaddy have other plans. Throw in a tambourine-playing squirrel, dueling Elvises, and an unfortunate spray-tanning incident…and you’re in for a knee-slapping, side-splitting night of live theatre.

Frank Bennett runs a bed and breakfast in a Texas Gulf Coast town located in the current path of Hurricane Claudia. He’s preparing the place for the storm before leaving, but then his elderly father shows up to “help.” Shortly after, Heidi, a mysterious, unexpected guest fleeing a traumatic event in her life, arrives and invites herself to stay as well. Frank’s son, Sam, is in love and needs a favor from his father. Lastly, Frank’s ex-wife arrives because her pool boy boyfriend has kicked her out. All of this happens while the hurricane continues to barrel closer, threatening to blow down the delicate house of cards of Frank’s life. Frank is a platinum card member of the sandwich generation and is getting squeezed for all he’s worth. He’s spent a lifetime suppressing his own wants and needs in service to the other generations. Will this time be any different?

In other news, voracious Joe Bob Lipsey’s production of A Christmas Carol is jeopardized by unpaid electric bills.

The Rainmaker

Set in a drought-ridden rural town in the West in Depression-era America, the play tells the story of a pivotal hot summer day in the life of spinsterish Lizzie Curry. Lizzie keeps house for her father and two brothers on the family cattle ranch. As their farm languishes under the devastating drought, Lizzie’s family worries about her marriage prospects more than about their dying cattle. A charming confidence trickster named Starbuck arrives and promises to bring rain in exchange for $100. His arrival sets off a series of events that enable Lizzie to see herself in a new light.

Wedding bells are ringing for Sam and Imogene… maybe. And Eaddy… well… she just wants to know what all the fuss is about up on the topless sun deck. Throw in a murder mystery, a fabulous drag queen and a crazy costume party, and you’re in for a laugh-a-minute, side-splitting laugh-out-loud night of fun.
